Allan Charles Ostrem, 64, died Saturday, Oct. 23, 2021,
of complications related to Huntington's Disease.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Nov. 1, at First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Dr. Barrie Tritle officiating. Burial will be at Memory Gardens Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 31, at Lensing Funeral and Cremation Service, Iowa City. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to First United Methodist Church or to Essence of Life Hospice.
The family requests that all guests wear a mask for the health and safety of all.
Allan was born Feb. 8, 1957, in Eldora, the son of Virgil and Norma (Tietz). He was a graduate of Eldora High School and the University of Iowa College of Pharmacy. On April 16, 1988, Allan married Wenda Bentley in Iowa City. Allan was a pharmacist at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics for 25 years.
He was a longtime member of First United Methodist Church. Allan enjoyed gardening and was an avid fan of Hawkeye sports. He loved time spent watching "Law and Order" and traveling with his family to Disney theme parks and other destinations. He especially enjoyed the musical "Wicked" and music from the 70s. Most important to Allan, was his family.
Allan is survived by his wife, Wenda; and their two children, Nicholas of Iowa City and Amy (Sam) Ogilvie of Cedar Rapids; his siblings, Philip (Julie) Ostrem of Iowa City and Rosemary (Dennis) Cooling of Newton; and nieces and nephews, Andy (Erica) Ostrem, Erin (Tyler) Loss, Grant Cooling and Samantha Cooling.
Allan was preceded in death by his parents.
