CEDAR RAPIDS — On Thursday at 5:30 p.m., Family Promise of Linn County (FPLC) will host the annual “Stories from the Heart: Reimaging Hope” in Raygun’s Cedar Rapids location. The community is invited to join the nonprofit fundraiser to help support local families facing homelessness. Tickets can be purchased for $30 in advance or at the door, and includes entrance to the event, dinner and drinks.
The storytelling event will be moderated by former FPLC director John Derryberry and feature different local speakers sharing different perspectives on the importance of home, their personal experiences, and what home means to them.
The scheduled speakers are Randy Estes, Zette St. Charles, Tim Gallenbeck, Brooke Murphy-Fitzgerald, Darrin Crow and Nic Hartmann.
Tickets to “Stories from the Heart: Reimagining Hope can be purchased at: www.familypromiseoflinncounty.org/events/stories-from-the-heart
“The derecho and COVID-19 have made FPLC more important than ever to our community as we are seeing an increase of families experiencing job loss, unexpected financial burdens, and possible eviction from their homes,” said Hartmann, FPLC Executive Director. “We believe every child deserves a home, and we want to be a resource to help local families in need during challenging times.”
The mission of FPLC is to help homeless and low-income families achieve sustainable independence through a community-based response.
