Rob West, 73, of Iowa City, passed away at his home Oct. 16, 2021.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 23, at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, 2301 East Court St., Iowa City, where the family will greet friends from 9 to 11 a.m. prior to the funeral service. Pastor Brent Hartwig will officiate. Burial will be at Memory Gardens Cemetery following the funeral service. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Our Redeemer Lutheran Church.

Robbie Michael was born Jan. 11, 1948, in Bloomington, Ill., to Robert and Carabel (Hendren) West. He grew up in LeRoy, Illinois, where he graduated from LeRoy High School. He went on to attend Western Illinois University, where he met the love of his life, Linda Hultgren. The couple got married on Aug. 30, 1969, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Des Plaines, Ill. He graduated with his bachelor's degree in business in 1970.

Rob and Linda eventually settled in Indiana, where they continued raising their two boys, Eric and Marc. Here, their third and final son Ryan was born. Rob took a job at Modine Manufacturing which marked the beginning of his 37 year career. The family moved to Iowa City in 1986 when Rob took a promotion as the Plant Manager of the Modine plant in Washington, Iowa. He retired in 2009.

Rob enjoyed golfing, biking, walking and traveling, especially vacations spent in New England where he and his wife often visited. He was an avid Chicago Cubs and Chicago Bears fan, as well as a member of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Iowa City.

Rob was a generous, wise and kind man with a gentle soul whose life was truly a blessing to his family and friends. He was a genuine, good person to those he encountered throughout his life. His children and grandchildren were his whole world and though they weren't ready to say goodbye, they are comforted to know he is reunited with his soulmate who passed away in 2019.

Survivors include his three sons, Eric West (Aleta Coleman) of Kalona, Iowa, Marc (Marissa) West of North Liberty, Iowa, and Ryan West (Jennifer Patton) of Coralville, Iowa; two grandchildren, Tyler and Morgan; his brother, Richard (Marcia) West of LeRoy, Ill.; and a sister-in-law, Mary Catherine West of Kalamazoo, Mich.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Linda West; brother, Ted West, and sister, Donnabelle (Duane) West.
