Jeannette L. Mehaffy, 86, of Cedar Rapids, formerly of Burlington, died Sunday, Oct. 17, 2021, at her residence. Born May 16, 1935, in Burlington, Iowa, she was the daughter of Harry S. and Louise G. "Billie" (Chapman) Gahn. She married Kenneth D. Mehaffy on Sept. 24, 1952, in Burlington,

and together they celebrated 69 years of marriage.

She worked for Kraft Heinz-Muscatine, served as the head chef at Ridgewood Elementary School in East Moline and worked for MCI as a telemarketer in Cedar Rapids. Her favorite job was being a wife, mom and grandma.

Jeannette served as a Girl Scout leader and was an excellent seamstress. She enjoyed knitting and crocheting. Jeannette loved listening to music and playing the piano. She enjoyed being outdoors, camping with her family and mushrooming.

Survivors include her husband, Kenneth Mehaffy of Cedar Rapids; seven children, Linda Parrish of Burlington, Corie (Faron) Moyers of Clements, Calif., Tim (Donna) Mehaffy of Cedar Rapids, Becca (Brian) Barker of Cedar Rapids, Matt Mehaffy of Cedar Rapids, Mark (Lannette) Mehaffy of Marion and Jason (Shawna) Mehaffy of North Liberty; 21 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; and three great-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one son, Marvin; son-in-law, Mike Parrish; great-grandson, Colton; seven brothers; and three sisters.

The funeral services for Mrs. Mehaffy will be 2 p.m. Friday, Oct. 22, at Lunning Chapel. Interment will be held at Aspen Grove Cemetery. Visitation with family present will be from 12:30 p.m. until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established. A celebration of life will be held at a later date in Cedar Rapids.
