Humbles brings calm leadership during a storm

Nancy Humbles has served the entire Cedar Rapids community through her leadership as the president of the school board during very trying times. She never wavered through the storm, literally and through a continued worldwide pandemic with grace and optimism.
Humbles was on the hiring committee for the current superintendent, who has just been named the state superintendent of the year. She had the vision to see a leader from our own school district and hire from within without wasting taxpayer dollars on a search committee. She has continued to put students first as demonstrated by the time and effort she has put into every decision made at the board level.
I know how hard these decisions are, I have witnessed so many scenarios from other states in my journey as an educational leader and I know that right here, right now, we need a leader like Nancy Humbles to continue to serve. Being a school board member is an unpaid, often thankless job. I am happy that someone that reflects the diversity of our district with the professional background Humbles has is willing to provide leadership.
I encourage you to vote for Nancy Humbles on Nov. 2 for Cedar Rapids school board.
