Marion deserves praise for tree debris removal

Shortly after the derecho, Marion arranged what to my eyes was a very well organized staging area to drop off tree debris. It was located just north of Highway 100 on the east side of 44th Street.
I saw well marked entrance and exit signage! It was so impressive as I drove by watching clean separated piles grow to what looked like stories high piles.
The lighting at night was clearly visible. Personnel wore good safety clothing while directing incoming loads sometimes it looked to me like 24/7.
Eventually these piles of tree debris turned into huge mounds of ground up mulch or sawdust using neatly placed equipment. Within a few weeks every pile disappeared. Good signage and lighting announced changing operating hours.
In the end I saw bare ground neat and cleaned up as it should be.
To all who organized the area and spent long hours going in and out of this particular staging area, thank you for a job well done!
Now if any of you are bored, I have a 40-year-old garage to empty and clean out as we are downsizing in order to move.
We’ll stay in Marion for sure!
