JACKSON COUNTY — Prairie Creek Recreation Area is one of Jackson County Conservation’s most popular areas and volunteers are invited to celebrate the area while helping improve its natural habitat. Join Jackson County Conservation naturalist Tony Vorwald on Saturday from 1 to 4 p.m. to help rehabilitate the “Shooting star Knoll” at Prairie Creek Recreation Area, 1215 East Summit St., Maquoketa.
The Shooting Star Knoll hosts hundreds of shooting star in the spring. Shooting star is a very beautify spring wildflower found in Iowa oak savannas and prairies. Volunteers will help remove invasive and woody species and enjoy a fire at the Prairie Creek Pavilion. This event also serves as Vorwald’s birthday party, so come join and celebrate. For registration or questions, please contact Vorwald at tony@jacksonccb.com
