Barbara Lou Schrader, 88, of Cedar Rapids died Saturday, Oct. 9, 2021, at the Dennis and Donna Oldorf House of Mercy. Private family services will be held. Burial: St. Patrick Cemetery. Teahen Funeral Home is serving the family.
Barbara is survived by her sons, David of Cedar Rapids and Don (Jennifer) of Fairfax; daughters, Linda (Mike) Black of Cedar Rapids and Mary Schrader of Fairfax; grandchildren, Jesse (Jenna) Black, Lindsey Schrader, Bruce (Chelsea) Black and Holly (Jake) Schrader; great-grandchildren, Karanna, Lola, Kira, Rosalie, Alyssa and Kayden; and sisters, Betty Schrader of Norway and Pat (Randy) Ballard of Cedar Rapids.
She was preceded in death by her husband Joseph in 2004.
Barbara was born Sept. 9, 1933, in Cedar Rapids the daughter of Louis and Lois Carway Tickal and was a graduate of Wilson High School. Barbara married Joseph Schrader on April 26, 1955, at St. Ludmila Church in Cedar Rapids.
Barbara loved spending time with her family and friends, especially her grandchildren. She was the all-American homemaker. She enjoyed baking kolaches and cookies, going to the casino, playing cards, attending concerts, and cheering on the Iowa Hawkeyes and the Cubs.
