Betty (Crowson) Naber
BETTY (CROWSON) NABER
Waukee
A beloved mother, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend, Betty (Crowson) Naber passed away on Saturday, Oct. 2, 2021, at age 83, in Waukee, Iowa.
Betty Sue was born at home in Big Fork, Minn., on Feb. 17, 1938, to Harold and Lillie (Sackett) Crowson. She graduated from Black River Falls High School in Black River Falls, Wis., in 1956. Betty married Marvin Naber on April 14, 1962, and together they had five children. After 19 years of staying home raising her kids, Betty then went to work for the Cedar Rapids Community School District as a confidential secretary until she retired.
A woman of faith, Betty trusted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior on March 3, 1952, at age 14. She found great hope in Isaiah 44:22, "I (God) have swept away your sins like a cloud ... Oh return to me, for I have paid the price to set you free." Through life's many hardships, Betty placed her trust in the kindness of her Heavenly Father.
Betty a.k.a. Grandma Kitty will be remembered for her green thumb and eye for beauty. Each of her homes was adorned with stunning flowers and thriving plants. She loved to read and completed countless puzzles, especially around the holidays with her family. Betty treasured her 'chat group' at Attivo Trail and loved to travel, making many visits to family across the country. Everyone agrees that she was happiest watching her grandchildren and great-grandchildren run and play, and her giggle at their silliness still resounds in our ears.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents, Harold and Lillie Crowson; and her sisters, Dorothy Salo and Dolly Asche.
She is survived by her children, Mike (Kim) Naber, Darren Naber, Shari (Randy) Nesbit, Aric (Clare) Naber and Shelly Johnson; her sisters, Lois Bruley and Gloria (Al) Christopherson; her grandchildren, Jon (Kasie) McCoy, Jessie (Jeremy) Hartman, Jake Petersen, Eric Johnson, Andrew (Amber) Naber, Ashlee (Keaton) Wilber, Samantha (Andy) Pringnitz, Trey Nesbit, Kadin Nesbit, Rowan Naber, Cedar Naber and Emma Johnson; and her 18 great-grandchildren.
Services will be held at noon Saturday, Oct. 16, at Hamilton's on Westown Parkway, 3601 Westown Parkway in West Des Moines, with visitation one hour prior. Family will also greet friends following the service. Burial will be at Booneville Cemetery.
