JOHN “GIL” CHRISTOPHER

John "Gil" Christopher, 86, passed away on Tuesday, Oct. 5, 2021. Services will be held 11:30 a.m. Oct. 16, at Calvary Baptist Church in Grinnell, Iowa. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Burial will take place at a later time.
Gil was born June 13, 1935, in Kansas, to Emil and Esther (Engberg) Christopher. He married Cynthia Forrest on Oct. 28, 1961.
Gil worked as an agricultural engineer for many years for Farmhand and other agricultural companies. He was an avid gardener, he grew just about every vegetable and all the fruits that he could. He was also a woodworker and created many items over the years. Gil and Cynthia were members at Calvary Baptist Church in Grinnell and were very active for decades. They later attended Blair Ridge Baptist Church in Cedar Rapids.
Gil is survived by his sons, John (Verna) Christopher of Des Moines, Eric (Mary) Christopher and Thomas Christopher; daughter, Amy (Matthew) Waln; sister, Carolyn Lorentzen; 12 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Cynthia Christopher; and his parents.
