Honor Flight was Eastern Iowa veteran’s trip of a lifetime

I was both honored and privileged to be taken on the trip of a lifetime on the Eastern Iowa Honor Flight Sept. 21. As a Vietnam veteran this trip was especially rewarding. For me, it was 56 years after my return with no recognition.
The honor flight staff are simply the most caring, helpful and loving people. Absolutely there is nothing they could do to improve. The sponsors have provided and gave freely to make such a reward memorable to each veteran. A thank you simply does not hold my deepest appreciation.
The guardians and fellow veterans were all the greatest.
Finally, the hundreds of local people who cheered us their appreciation upon the return to Cedar Rapids is beyond any words I can express. I was in tears all the way through the long line. You, every one of you, are the reason we veterans serve so that we maintain our freedom. I would willingly serve again for each of you who gave me such a precious memory that will last to my last day.
