Daniel Yousse, 70, of Monticello, passed away on Monday, Sept. 27, 2021, at home following a long illness.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 1, at the Goettsch Funeral Home, Monticello. The Rev. Dave Raemisch will officiate. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery. Friends may call from 9:30 a.m. to the
time of service. Due to the current health pandemic face masks, properly fitted over the nose and mouth, will be required at all times inside the funeral home. Thank you for your cooperation! Daniel Melvin Yousse was born June 8, 1951, in Monticello, the son of Dale and Edna (Like) Yousse. He attended Monticello Community School and was a member of the Monticello High School Class of 1970. He married Joanne Kray at St. Matthew Lutheran Church on June 26, 1971. He worked at multiple automotive establishments including NAPA, McLaughlin Chevrolet, Wears Implement, and Freese Motors. Over his career, Dan participated in many training programs, attaining knowledge and certifications in many areas of automotive technology. In 1985 he opened Dan's Auto Parts in Monticello. Dan and Joanne owned and operated the store for 31 years. She retired in 2013 and he retired in 2016.
He was active in the Masonic Lodge and El Kahir Shriners since the early the 1970s. Throughout his life, he enjoyed tractor pulling, drag racing, woodworking, building, fixing and collecting things. Dan and Joanne enjoyed going for long drives and traveling throughout the country.
Those remembering Dan are his children, Melissa (Tom) Wersinger, Dubuque, and Tracy (Kelly) Yousse, Monticello; four grandchildren, Logan and Sydney Wersinger, and Trevor and Wyatt O'Reilly; his stepmother, JoAnn Yousse, Monticello; and siblings, Dean (Pat) Yousse, Scotch Grove, Tanda (Brad Merfeld) Foster, Monticello, Shawn (Kevin) Green, Monticello, and Dale Joe (Jackie) Yousse, Monticello.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Joanne, in January of this year; and his parents.
Dan's family would like to say a special thank-you to his loving and devoted caregivers whose dedication and exemplary care will never be forgotten.
