Carl Richard Young, 65, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, died Friday, Sept. 24, 2021, at his home. Visitation: 5 to

7 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 28, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids. No other services will be held.

Carl was born July 15, 1956, in Cedar Rapids, the son of Donovon and Helen (Salsbery) Young. He attended College Community Schools. On Aug. 23, 1974, Carl married Donna Rae Weaver in Cedar Rapids. During his working career as an auto builder and truck driver he worked at Sunline, Cedar Rapids, Inc., ADM Trucking, and most recently Gary's Auto. Carl also owned and operated Young Transport from 2004-2015. He was passionate about working with cars, professionally and recreationally, all his life. Spending time fishing at the cabin with family and hunting a variety of native animals brought him joy. He loved caring for his garden, grilling in the backyard, frying fish and devouring morel mushrooms. Carl enjoyed collecting Budweiser steins and other memorabilia. In his youth, he was adventurous, doing things like water skiing, racing go-carts at Hawkeye Downs, riding snowmobiles and motorcycles. His greatest pride was in taking care of his family, and plethora of grand-dogs. He will be greatly missed by all.

Survivors include his wife, Donna Young; children, Rick (Wendy) Young and Gina (Dustin) Young; granddaughter, Caitlin Young; siblings, Donovon (Diane) Young, Jerry (Sue) Heintz, Gary (Tammy) Young, Lee (Christine) Young and Pam (Mike) Ohsman; sisters-in-law, Maudie Petersen, Linda Ballard and Jalaa Weaver; brother-in-law, Tim (Dee) Weaver, and their families.

Carl was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, mother and father-in-law, three sisters-in-law and six brothers-in-law.
