Thomas Wayne Clymer, 61 of Palo, died at home in his sleep on Friday, Sept. 24, 2021. A Celebration of Life will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 9, at his sister Tamera's house at 505 Main St., Palo. Teahen Funeral Home and Cremation Service is assisting the family.
Tom is survived by his wife, Vickie; mother, Gaye Clymer of Palo; sister, Tamera (Dennis) Packingham of Palo; half-sister, Shelley (Rob) Chagnon of Cedar Rapids; aunt, Danett Dannels of Center Point; uncle, Wayne Clymer of Cedar Rapids; nephews, Cody (Amanda) Christensen of Marion and Casey Christensen of Palo; great-nephews, Carson and Kael Christensen; great-niece, Natalee Alexis Christensen; and many, many dear friends.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Dan and Lois Clymer; uncle, John Dannels; and father-in-law and mother-in-law, Howard and Norma Wright.
Tom was born on Feb. 6, 1960, in Vinton, the son of Gaye Frances Clymer. He attended Kenwood Elementary and graduated in 1978 from Kennedy High School. On Sept. 21, 1985, he married Vickie Wright and recently they celebrated 36 wonderful years together. In 1981 Tom began working for Ingredion. He served as the assistant chief for Linn County Hazmat for 34 years, volunteered for the Palo Fire and Ambulance for many years and was an active member of the 2 Cylinder Tractor Club.
Tom had a wonderful personality and was loved by everyone. He was generous, kind and always willing to help. Tom enjoyed spending time with his family and friends and will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
A memorial fund has been established in Tom's name.
