Jane A. Kriegel, 75, of Brooklyn, passed away peacefully at her home on Wednesday, Sept. 22, 2021. Mass of Christian Burial:
10 a.m. Monday, Sept. 27, at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Brooklyn, with Father Scott Lemaster officiating. Visitation: 3 to 6 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 26, at Kloster Funeral Home, Brooklyn, with a Rosary recited at 3 p.m. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery, Brooklyn. A memorial fund has been established. Kloster Funeral Home, Brooklyn is assisting the family with arrangements.
Jane is survived by her husband, Tony of Brooklyn; her 12 children, Ted (Carla) Kriegel of Brooklyn, Amy (Jake) Behounek of Chelsea, Mark (Jamie) Kriegel of Pella, Scott (Gretchen) Kriegel of Center Point, Jeff (April) Kriegel of Grinnell, Hollie (Brett) Schoneman of Clear Lake, Stephanie (Dan) Schipper of Brooklyn, Nicole (Luke) Gray of Madrid, Krissy (Jason) Franck of Readlyn, Heidi (Ryan) Dunlay of Bettendorf, Annie (Shane) Dunlay of Olathe, Kan., and Katie (Derek) Buyck of Adel; her 36 grandchildren, Megan, Bryan (Aliya), Michael and Jordan Kriegel, Riley (Jose) Fragoso and D.J. Kahley, Lauren Kriegel, Emily (Drew) Roozeboom, Jeremiah and Elyse Kriegel, Peyton, Kolbie, and Taylor Kriegel, Onika, Emerson and Adrian Schoneman, Mickella Lamb, Bryce, Briggs and Briley Jo Schipper, Logan and Kailyn Gray, Austin, Addison, Ariz., and Amelia Franck, Liam, Caden, Dylan and Vivian Dunlay, Lincoln, Parker, Irelyn and Finnegan Dunlay, and Norah and Sage Buyck; and three great-grandchildren, Noah and Alecia Fragoso and Brooks Kriegel.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Sylvia VanErsvelde; Tony's parents, Melvin and Teresa Kriegel; a sister-in-law, Barb VanErsvelde; and brother-in-law, Sardar Wardak.
Jane Ann VanErsvelde was born Dec. 6, 1945, in Brooklyn, Iowa, the daughter of Frank and Sylvia (Williams) VanErsvelde. She graduated from BGM High School, with the class of 1964. Jane was united in marriage to Anthony Kriegel on May 7, 1966, at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Brooklyn. Jane was a homemaker and the best mom in the world. She was a member of St. Patrick's Altar & Rosary in Brooklyn. She enjoyed quilting, gardening and picking sweet corn. Jane was an avid BGM Bears and Iowa Hawkeye fan. Jane especially loved rocking the babies of the family and attending her children and grandchildren's sporting events.
