Larry John Caraway, 78, of Marion, Iowa, passed away Tuesday, Sept. 21, 2021, at Garnett Place. A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 25, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service of Marion. The family will greet guests one hour before the service, followed by burial at Oak Shade Cemetery in Marion.
Larry was born July 14, 1943, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, the son of Archie and Elise (Topping) Caraway. He graduated from Jefferson School in Cedar Rapids and went on to serve honorably in the United States Navy until honorable discharge in 1966. He worked at Link-belt Speeder as a draftsman until retirement. On Nov. 17, 1975, Larry was united in marriage to Barbara Jean Caraway at First United Methodist Church in Marion, Iowa. Larry will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. He was an avid stamp collector for many years. Larry enjoyed watching TV and a good meal, especially a sweet treat.
Larry is survived and lovingly remembered by a stepson, Chuck (Rose) Fadness of South Dakota; stepdaughter, Diane Erb of Marion; niece, Karen (Greg) Zierath of Marion; and several other nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Barbara; sister, Betty Carsner; and brother, Richard Caraway.
