Donna Relf, 78, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, Sept. 21, 2021, at her rural Shellsburg home, surrounded by her loving family.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 25, at Oak Grove Christian Church in Shellsburg, with the Rev. Matt Magee officiating. Interment will be held at the Garrison Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the church from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday.
Donna was born on April 30, 1943, in Iowa City, the daughter of Donald and Irene (Shay) Wolfe. She graduated from Urbana High School, with the class of 1961. On April 25, 1964, she was united in marriage to Gary Relf in Hannibal, Mo. Donna worked in administration at the Farmers Mutual Telephone Company in Shellsburg from 1984 until her retirement in 2008.
She was a member of Prairie Creek Church and later joined Oak Grove Christian Church. Donna enjoyed membership in the ladies coffee and card club, and loved to visit friends and family. She thoroughly enjoyed taking bus trips and encouraged her friends to accompany her. Donna always planted flowers in the spring at her home. Her greatest joy came from her grandchildren and her great-grandchildren.
She is survived by her children, Cary D. (Rose) Relf, and Christine (Brian Brummer) Relf, all of Shellsburg; three grandchildren, Jessica (Daniel Lynch) Relf, Jena (David) Ervin and Dillon (Mikayla Raue) Brummer; five special great-grandchildren, Adrina, Lexington and Carson Lynch, and Landon and Luke Ervin; her sister, Lorna Moody; sister-in-law, Marilyn Wolfe, and brother-in-law, Jim Relf.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Gary, in 2003; brother, William Wolfe; and two sisters, Shirley Vanourney and Wilma Wolfe in infancy.
