James C. Gnagy, 66, died Friday, Sept. 17, 2021. A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 25, at the Upper Pavilion in Daniels Park. Please bring lawn chairs. Masks are strongly recommended.
Jim is survived by his brother, John Gnagy (Sue) of Elkader; nieces, Katie Crawford (Dan) of Baton Rouge, La., and Barb Johnson (Chris) of Plymouth, Minn.; as well as a grandniece, six grandnephews, and two cousins, Mark and John (Michelle) Berkshire of Phoenix, Ariz.
Jim loved his family, especially doting on his grandniece and nephews. As an avid Iowa fan, he attended numerous Hawkeye games. He was a great lover of all things John Deere and even restored the pedal tractor he rode as a child. Jim had a John Deere room in his house which he decorated with Deere ornaments at Christmas time. He also loved his Mustang convertible and his red F-150.
He retired from DB Acoustics this fall.
Jim was a member of the Cedar Rapids Elks and Moose Lodges. He held local and state offices including district President for Moose, as well as helping with many of their service projects.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Wayne and Jo Gnagy of Cedar Falls.
Memorials should be given to the Moose Charities.
