Ronald R. "Ronnie" Orris, 93, of Monmouth, Iowa, passed away Friday, Sept. 17, 2021, at Crestridge Care Center in Maquoketa, Iowa. A celebration of his life will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 25, at Carson Celebration of Life Center in Maquoketa. Visitation will be held prior to the funeral from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be at the Monmouth, Iowa, Cemetery.
Ronald Ray Orris was born Feb. 4, 1928, in Jones County, Iowa, to Shelby A. and Marian (Menald) Orris. He was a 1945 graduate of Monmouth High School. He married Lola Lena Busch on July 25, 1948, in Maquoketa, Iowa. They recently celebrated their 73rd anniversary, prior to her passing on Sept. 7, 2021.
"Ronnie" had farmed north of Monmouth all of his life. He was a member of the Wyoming Presbyterian Church, where he had served as an elder. He enjoyed playing cards, watching Lawrence Welk, fishing trips to Canada with good friends Betty and Bill Reed, attending the Onslow Coffee Club, and helping his children with 4-H livestock projects at the Jackson County Fair.
Those left to honor his memory include his children, Jim (Susan) Orris of Monticello, Iowa, Cathy (Randy) Cronbaugh of Belle Plaine, Iowa, David (Sherry) Orris of Monmouth, Iowa, and Lori (Rick) Willenborg of Dyersville, Iowa; 13 grandchildren; and 24 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Lola; a daughter, Colleen Ann Orris Nolting; his parents; and a brother, Robert.
