Gov. Kim Reynolds: The president of the United States has implored governors to protect their children from this most dangerous, current COVID variant. The delta variant spreads much more widely than did the original virus. It makes most unvaccinated people sicker and infects children at a greater rate than did the original COVID virus.
Governor, if the Iowa National Guard were called to active duty, you would not allow them on the front line of battle empty-handed — attempting to fight without weapons. Yet in the battle against the delta variant, you send our children daily into the battlefield of virus without weapons to fight it. We have the necessary weapons to more safely send our children to school: mandated wearing of masks, regular testing, contact tracing, and vaccinated adults and teens. We must use those weapons!
Governor, sign an executive order or call the legislature back to rescind the law that ties the hands of Iowa schools.
Please do not wait until we have to hear of — and for some experience — the deaths of Iowa children from the delta variant. Act now.
Iowans, call the governor. Plead with her to protect your children and grandchildren. 515-281-5211
