Robert Patrick Marovich, 78, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, passed away peacefully Tuesday, Sept. 14, 2021, at the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy in Hiawatha, Iowa. A visitation will be from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 17, at the Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories Stateroom. A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 18, at Peace Christian Reformed Church. Burial will follow at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery.
Robert "Sweet Old Bob" was born Dec. 29, 1942, in Los Angeles, Calif., to John and Dorothy (Bristow) Marovich. After he graduated from high school, he went on to California State University where he earned his bachelor's degree. He married the love of his life, Marilyn Hogan, on April 11, 1964, in Bellflower, California. He faithfully served two years in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. He moved to Cedar Rapids in 1979, where he worked at Rockwell Collins. During his 38 years of service to Rockwell Collins, he held many executive positions up until his retirement in 1998.
He enjoyed traveling, golfing, reading and absolutely cherished the time he spent with his grandchildren. Robert found joy in mentoring others, and spending time with his friends and family. He was a great friend and will truly be missed by everyone that knew him.
Robert is survived by his three daughters, Kelly (Jason) Maschmann of St. Louis, Mo., Karin (Michael) Ryan of Davenport, Iowa, and Kate (T.J.) Skattum of Elmhurst, Ill.; grandchildren, Abby and Hannah Maschmann, Sadie, Aidan and Holden Ryan, and Jane, Lucy and Tommy Skattum; siblings, John (Linda) Marovich of Arizona, Pat (Tom) Hause, Eleanor (John) Kellenberger and Mary Lou Roe, all of California.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Tommy; and his loving wife, Mary Ann Marovich.
