Mary Ellen Primmer, 82, died peacefully on Wednesday, Sep. 8, 2021, at Mercy One Hospital in Waterloo.
Private family graveside services will be held at Evergreen Cemetery in Vinton.
Mary Ellen was born Oct. 24, 1938, in Vinton, the daughter of Chauncey and Clara (Stoller) Primmer. She graduated from Lincoln High School in Vinton. Mary Ellen worked as an assistant librarian at the Vinton Public Library and operated a bookstore, Mary's Book Nook for a number of years. Mary Ellen loved to read and had a fondness for art.
She is survived by her sisters, Jean (Wendell) Larson of Erie, Ill., and Linda Yulga of Davenport; her brother-in-law, Everett Smith of Waterloo; 12 nieces and nephews; and many great-nieces and -nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Charles Primmer and Robert Primmer; and two sisters, Kathleen Smith and Evelyn Primmer.
