Daniel Joseph Mensen, 69, of Urbana, Iowa, passed away at his home on Wednesday, Sept. 8, 2021. Family will greet family and friends from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 12, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Marion, Iowa. A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Sept. 13, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Urbana. Burial will follow at St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery in Urbana.

Daniel was born on Dec. 1, 1951, in Dubuque, Iowa, the son of Leo and Dorothy (Funke) Mensen. He graduated from Beckman High School in Dyersville, Iowa. On Feb. 1, 1975, Daniel was united in marriage to Marcia Pierce, in Anamosa, Iowa. He worked as a school bus mechanic for the Cedar Rapids School District until his retirement in 2011. Daniel enjoyed time with friends, camping, bowling, and eating out for breakfast. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Daniel is survived and lovingly remembered by his daughter, Dawn (Dan) Canada of Keller, Texas; two sons, Mark (Becky) Mensen of Joplin, Mo., and Mitchell (Kendra) Mensen of Urbana; seven grandchildren, Tucker and Levi Mensen, Jennifer (James) Clevenstine, Robyn Dattilo, and Camille, Matt and Molly Canada; great-granddaughter, Briyanah; eight brothers, Loras (Suzanne) Mensen of Dyersville, Steve (Julie) Mensen of Earlville, Gary (Nancy) Mensen of Dyersville, Kevin (Kathy) Mensen of Dyersville, Tom (Jill) Mensen of Dyersville, Mike (Peggy) Mensen of Adel, Iowa, Carl (Lisa) Mensen of Luxemborg and Don (Amy) Mensen of Carroll, Iowa; and two sisters, Deb Meis of Platteville, Wis., and Cindy (Dan) Willenberg of Dyersville.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Leo and Dorothy Mensen; and wife, Marcia, in 2006.

Memorials in Daniel's memory may be directed to St. Mary's Catholic Church in Urbana.
