Authorities ID Monticello man who died in Jones County crash

MONTICELLO — Shaun Michael Brewer of Monticello has been identified as the driver who was killed in a one-car, rollover crash Sunday in Jones County.

The Iowa State Patrol said in a news release that Brewer was driving south on River Road northeast of Monticello about 2 a.m. when his 2004 Ford Explorer went into a west-side ditch and rolled several times before hitting a utility pole and coming to rest on its top.

Brewer, 44, was not wearing a seat belt and was ejected from the vehicle and died at the scene, the patrol said.

His passenger, Jerame Lee Foster, 42, of Monticello, who was wearing a seat belt, was injured but did not require hospitalization, according to the report.
