MARY ELIZABETH "BETTY" TOWERS
Marion
Mary Elizabeth "Betty" Towers, 96, passed away peacefully Sept. 3, 2021. She was born Aug. 7, 1925, in Marion, Iowa, to Laura and Lester Peck. She married Charles "Mac" Towers on Dec. 28, 1946. Betty and Mac enjoyed many wonderful years of marriage and raised six children together. Mac preceded her in death in 1996.
Betty loved people. She had many friends and a family who adored her. She was a kind and loving person and a wonderful mother. She attended Iowa State University following graduation from High School. Betty worked in a variety of jobs in her early days, including a railroad secretary, switchboard operator, and assisting her husband with his veterinary business by working at the desk or answering calls. Betty's greatest love and priority was her family. She was a lifelong Christian, spectacular homemaker, wonderful cook, and the absolute best mom in the world. She will be greatly missed.
Betty is survived by her six children, Jim, Mark, Greg Charles, David, Jon and Janet. Also two brothers, Bob and Bill Peck survive. Betty also has many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Her brother, Jerry, preceded her in death as well as her parents, Lester and Laura Peck.
The family is requesting memorials be sent to a charity of personal choice.
Blessed be her memory. A celebration of her life will follow at a later date.
