Arlene Richardson, 83, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, went to be with her Heavenly Father on Saturday, Sept. 4, 2021. Funeral service: 11:30 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 11, at Stonebridge Church, Cedar Rapids, with visitation one hour prior. Burial: Linwood Cemetery, Cedar Rapids. Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service assisted the family.
Arlene was born Dec. 31, 1937, in Des Moines, Iowa, the daughter of Harold and Berdena Reeves. She graduated from Tech High School in Des Moines. Arlene was united in marriage to Ronald L. Richardson on Feb. 25, 1956, and the couple moved to Cedar Rapids around 1962.
She attended Edgewood Baptist Church, where she held many positions. Arlene was a stay-at-home wife and mother but ran a daycare from her home. She loved having them all around. They maintained an open door to homeless youth. She was a dedicated Cub Scout and Blue Bird leader. Arlene loved trips to see her family.
Arlene leaves behind her children, Ronda Smith of Cedar Rapids, Ray (Corinne) Richardson of Atkins, Kathy (Steve) Klaaren of Ladora, Mike Richardson and Lori Richardson, both of Cedar Rapids; 18 grandchildren; and 23 great-grandchildren; brother, Rodney (Ann) Reeves of Galveston, Texas; sisters-in-law, Mary Reeves, Carolyn Reeves, Katie Vaques and Anne Richardson; and many nieces, nephews and special family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ron; her parents; brothers, Richard, Narm, Jerry and Loren; plus many family members and dear friends.
