Kathryn L. "Kate" Marks, 86, of Wilton, Iowa, passed away Tuesday, Aug. 31, 2021, at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, Iowa City. Mass of the Christian Burial will be held at noon Saturday, Sept. 4, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Wilton. Visitation will be held from 10:30 a.m. until the funeral Mass at the church. Burial will take place at Oakdale Cemetery in Wilton. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Mary's Catholic Church or the Wilton Fire Department/EMS in her memory. Kate was born in Rowley, Iowa, on Dec. 28, 1934, to Lawrence and Mildred McGrath Butterfield. She graduated from Rowley High School in 1951. Kate married Earl F. "Butch" Marks on Dec. 29, 1952, in Rowley, Iowa. He preceded her in death on Aug. 7, 2012.
She retired from CDS in Wilton, where she was an accountant.
Kate was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Wilton and a former member of Wahkonsa Country Club. She loved to play cards and golf. She enjoyed watching sports, especially the Hawkeyes.
Kate is survived and lovingly remembered by her daughter, Cindy (Jim) Gavin of Wilton; sons, Brent (Deanna) Marks of Wilton, Curtis (Cathy) Marks of Dubuque and Jim (Angie) Marks of Laguna Niguel, Calif.; six grandchildren, Jared (Carmen) Marks, Kyle (Brittany) Marks, Erin (Kyle) Parks, Amanda (Justin) Smith, Colby Marks and Sawyer Marks; and six great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband; sister, Phyllis Polk; and brothers, Charles and Lawrence Butterfield.
