Dennis Allen Jurging, 78, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, passed away after a lengthy illness on Monday, Aug. 30, 2021. A visitation will be held from
4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 2, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Cedar Rapids, with a vigil service beginning at 3:30 p.m. A funeral Mass will take place at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Sept. 3, at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Cedar Rapids with Father Ken Glaser officiating. Burial will follow at Linwood Cemetery in Cedar Rapids.
Dennis was born June 9, 1943, in Washington, Iowa, the son of Rollie and LaDeema "Dee" (Wood) Jurging. He graduated from Jefferson High School. Dennis served in the U.S. Air Force from 1963-1967, during the Vietnam conflict. He worked for Dictaphone/Pitney Bowes. On May 7, 1983, Dennis married Beatrice Wehr at St. Patrick's Catholic Church. He enjoyed working on and using computers. Dennis loved outdoor work and taking care of his lawn and shrubbery. He loved his cats, especially Harley.
Survivors include his wife, Beatrice Jurging of Cedar Rapids; nephew, Toby (Heidi) Jurging of Kent, Ohio; great-nephews, Porter and Easton; and great-niece, Harper.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Rollie Allen and LaDeema Jurging; and brother, William "Bill" Jurging.
Memorials may be directed to a charity of the donor's choice.
