Left without an answer in Afghanistan

I have no original thoughts, no ideas about Afghanistan. I have only profound ambivalence about how much we accomplished with women and public education there vs. how completely fractured and unrepairable their tribal male dominated, rudderless power structure really is.
President Joe Biden said what we all feel in our gut, and if old enough, felt after Vietnam. No matter what else we do, how long we stay, this exit story will be the same. Innocent citizens victimized by greed, cultural and vicious religious insanity.
My respect for those military heroes pulling off this mass evacuation is beyond words.
