Help with monarch butterfly tagging in Jones County Central Park in September
Aug. 30, 2021 8:00 am
Become citizen scientists for a day! Bring your family to Central Park in September to help net and tag migrating monarch butterflies. “Family Monarch Tagging” days will be Saturday & Sunday from 1 to 5 p.m. and Wednesdays on Sept. 1, 8 and 15 from 3:30 to 6:30 p.m.
Check in at the Central Park Nature Center Lower Level to receive instructions and loaner tagging equipment before heading out to net live monarch butterflies.
Come learn about the magnificent monarch migration and find out why scientists and citizen volunteers across North America are tagging monarchs. Educational brochures and fun activity sheets will be available for you to take home. For those who want to learn about monarchs before arriving, visit our website’s virtual programs page for links, educational videos, and fun quizzes.
