William George Janecek, 78, of Cedar Rapids, died Thursday, Aug. 26, 2021, at Mercy Medical Center. A Celebration of Life Gathering will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 1, at Brosh Chapel and The Avacentre in Cedar Rapids, located at 2121 Bowling St., SW. Private family inurnment will be at a later date.
William was born Sept. 25, 1942, in Marion, the son of Jerry and Emily (Pospisil) Janecek. He graduated from Marion High School. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army. William worked for over 36 years at Quaker Oats, retiring in 2000. William enjoyed going to Las Vegas, playing cards, wintering in Florida and gardening.
William is survived by his sister, Marie Krueger of Marion; his brother, Louis Janecek of Shellsburg; and his nieces and nephews, Lora Schultz, Doug Folkers, Nancy Hughes, Terry Folkers, Pam Barber, Susan Barton and their families.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, Jerry Jr. and Charles Janecek; and his sisters, Frances Heater and Anna Teffer.
