ROBERT LEJEUNE FISHER
Cedar Rapids
Robert LeJeune Fisher, 98, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, passed away on Thursday, Aug. 26, 2021, with his wife and children by his side.
Robert was born in Indianapolis, Ind., to Chester and Elizabeth Fisher. He moved to Clinton, Iowa, his sophomore year of high school where he met the love of his life, Shirley Sem. They were married in 1944 in Laramie, Wyo., where Bob was stationed in the U.S. army. Bob served his country in World War II and Korea. He graduated from the University of Iowa on the GI Bill. At retirement, he was controller at Penick and Ford and spent many years serving as treasurer of First Presbyterian Church of Cedar Rapids and Linn County Food Bank. He also served as deacon and elder of his church.
Bob enjoyed fishing, golf, being there for his family and living a life of service. He loved jelly beans, bunnies and his favorite pair of slippers from 1965. His motto was "Attitude is everything. Pick a good one."
He is lovingly remembered by Shirley, his wife of 77 years; his two daughters, Pamela (David) Smith and Patrice (Micheal) Marling; his five grandchildren, Sarah (Doug) Timmer, Steven (Julie) Smith, Hannah (Paul) Byrne, Seth (Kathleen) Marling and Elizabeth (Erik) Sjoberg; and 11 great-grandchildren.
A private graveside service will be held for his immediate family at Cedar Memorial.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to First Presbyterian Church or Meth-Wick Community.
