Buel "Sonny" Harris, 85, of Cedar Rapids, passed away Thursday, Aug. 26, 2021, following an extended illness. Gathering of family and friends: 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 1, at Stewart Baxter Funeral & Memorial Services, Cedar
Rapids, followed by a Burial with military honors at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. There will be a Celebration of Life from noon to 3 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 5, at Rumors Bar and Grill: 400 F Ave. NW, Cedar
Rapids, IA 52405.
He is survived by his children, Rollin Harris, Michelle Daniels (John Welsh) and Dawn Harris; grandchildren, Annabell and Cruise Stick, Amara and Landon Ohrt, and Evie and Faye Benish; grand-dog, Blue; special great-niece, Beth Wilson; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and extended family members.
Buel was born June 20, 1936, to Henry and Cora (Gabbert) Harris. He grew up in the Mount Vernon area, and joined the U.S. Marines in 1954, and was very proud of his service. He married Diane Dahl on June 29, 1968, in Rock Island, Ill. Buel enjoyed fishing, watching wrestling and NASCAR, and cherished spending time with his friends and family.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Diane; and siblings, Wanda, Dale, Vivian, Bueta "Bea", Genevieve, Bernadine, Ilene and Maxine.
