CORALVILLE — Two people, alerted to a fire in their home by smoke detectors early Friday, were able to escape without injury.
Fire department officials said the 4 a.m. fire in the 2100 block of 13th Street caused an estimated $250,000 in damage.
Fire crews found fire throughout the house — south of Interstate 80 and east of Coral Ridge Mall — when they arrived and spent about 45 minutes putting it out, according to a news release.
The two people in the home were able to get out of the home after being alerted by smoke detectors, the news release stated.
Coralville fire officials are investigating the cause of the fire.
The Coralville Fire Department was assisted by the Iowa City, North Liberty and Tiffin firefighters.
