Gary Dean Griffith, 72, of Solon, passed away Tuesday, Aug. 10, 2021. A private graveside committal will take place on Friday, Aug. 13, 2021, at the Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. A public celebration honoring Gary's life will be held at a later date.
Gary was born on July 16, 1949, in Monticello, Iowa, the son of Dale and Arlene (Lubben) Griffith. Gary was united in marriage to Nancy Kulhavy on Oct. 11, 1995, in Las Vegas, Nev. Gary was a longtime member of the Sons of the American Legion.
Gary enjoyed playing golf and traveling with Nancy. He was kind, generous and a fun person who will be greatly missed.
Gary is survived by his wife, Nancy; children, Bryan (Dawn) Griffith of Cedar Rapids, Todd (Ann) Griffith of Center Point, Jason Widdel of Cedar Rapids, Joel (Tara) Widdel of Marion, Justin (Shawna) Widdel of Robins and Kristin Widdel of Cedar Rapids; four grandchildren; six stepgrandchildren; two great-grandchildren; sister, Deanna (Mike) Kroemer; and brothers, Scott Griffith and Jack (Barb) Griffith.
Gary was preceded in death by his parents.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be directed to the family.
