We're in Manchester. Nice seats on the stage overlooking all the action. I'm sitting next to one of my favorite people, Ken Boesenberg. He looks awfully tan. It must be lingering from the summer from all the fishing and golfing. At 103, Greg Keating of Linn-Mar beat Matt Paulus of New Hampton, 2-0, in the semifinals. Keating is ranked 10th in 3A and Paulus is 6th in 2A. Keating's first-period takedown was enough to advance to the final and face West Delaware's P.C. McEnany, who is rated ninth in 2A. Strong bracket.285 - #1 Tray Pendleton of Waterloo East and C.R. Washington's #2 Brandon Burrell will meet in the finals, advancing with semifinal pins. Burrell pinned #8 Mac Mahmens of Linn-Mar, and Pendleton pinned Ernie Vega of Fairfield.West Delaware has 8 finalists, New Hampton and Waterloo East each have five and Marion and Linn-Mar have three apiece. Here are the FINAL team scores:1. West Delaware 205.5 points; 2. New Hampton 184.5; 3. Waterloo East 153; 4. Linn-Mar 132.5; 5. Decorah 129, 6. Marion 112.5; 7. Fairfield 110; 8. C.R. 125 - Austin Weisinger (Marion) vs. Anthony Hable (Decorah): Hable scores a big headlock in the first for a 5-0 lead. Weisinger gets a reversal after a fresh start when the ref called hable's headlock potentially dangerous (Arm across the Weisinger's face). Hable gets a reversal before end of first (9-2 Hable). Hable adds a takedown in the second, then hits a reversal in the first 10 seconds of the third, catching Weisinger on his backk and getting the fall in 4:33.
