Mike Johnson of the Cedar Rapids RoughRiders has been named United States Hockey League goaltender of the week and teammate Matt Donovan has been USHL Defensive Player of the Week.
Johnson picked up a pair of victories last weekend, shutting out Indiana, 6-0, and allowing just one goal at Waterloo in a 4-1 victory. The goal against the Black Hawks was scored with just 19 seconds left in the game.
Donovan had an assist in the Indiana game and two goals against Waterloo. He led all USHL defensemen with 19 goals and 51 points in the regular season.
The RoughRiders play Indiana in a best-of-5 first-round USHL playoff series that begins Friday night at Cedar Rapids. The RoughRiders also host Game 2. Opening faceoff both nights is 7:05.
