Hey Hawkeyes, Cyclones -- South Alabama has schedule openings for 2013 and beyond
Mike Hlas Jul. 13, 2009 2:48 pm
The University of South Alabama just launched a football program. It will play Hargrave Military Academy, Georgia Military J.C. and Fork Union Military Academy this year, to name a few.
But in 2013, USA will be a full-fledged FBS football program competing in the Sun Belt Conference, home of 2009 Iowa opponent Arkansas State.
The Jaguars will need games. And like virtually all of their Big Ten and Big 12 brothers, Iowa and Iowa State aren't averse to scheduling nonconference lesser-lights. Iowa recently landed not one, but two big future home games against the Sun Belt's North Texas Mean Green.
Yeee-haaaa!
So why wait, Gary Barta and Jamie Pollard? Get these automatic wins while they're available. You know SEC athletic directors are already salivating at the chance to play South Alabama for that easy 'W' and that home gate.
