Slaton's status

Joey Slaton, the 2008 133-pound NCAA runner-up, has been a lightning rod for rumors and inuendo ever since the summer after his run to the national finals.Last year, the Hawkeye wrestler didn't make the line up and was surrounded by discussions of his offseason, or lack thereof, work and weight-cutting issues. Now, this offseason has seen rumors of its own, dealing with his eligibilty for his final season as a Hawkeye.Slaton's stepfather, Matt Shaver, would not elaborate on the situation."I know he took care of what he needed to during the summer," Shaver said.Many are tight-lipped about Slaton's status. Slaton, himself, refused comment, however, sources close to the situation said to expect Slaton to be enrolled at Iowa this fall and eligible for the Hawks.The same is being reported by other
