Hancher editorial missed crucial points

Your Thursday editorial “Weigh carefully for Hancher” missed several important points.
Having up to 1,300 cars arriving at Hancher at about 45 minutes before performances start would create MAJOR traffic problems downtown. Same after the show.
The north site would allow the Hancher/Music School buildings to be GREEN. There is plenty of space for them to use geothermal energy for heating and cooling, as was brought up at the meeting. They also could use solar panels. Most of the university dorms are as close to the north site as the downtown site.
The Levitt Center is a privately owned business building and not that attractive, so what is the negative impact of having Hancher nearby? There is plenty of green space around the current Hancher/Music complex and the same amount of green space would still be there. Also, parking would be just as close. Not so downtown.
Iowa Citians also would have to make up the nearly $400,000 tax shortfall if the downtown site would be chosen. How? By increased taxes?
