City’s public library plan needs support

So. Higher ground equals more valuable real estate, turf wanted by the heavy hitters in the downtown power structure? A mere public library is a weak sister that everyone can afford to elbow back to the water's edge?
I don't think the city council quite understands the value of intangible assets. Buried under all the warm fuzzies about books for kids, etc., were a few microfilm caches and other non-replaceable items (hopefully saved from the Great Flood of 2008) that made the Cedar Rapids branch of the library system a remarkable community asset, and should afford it full community support to rebuild those assets - above the 500-year water line.
