Set aside party politics and find health solution

Our president is tackling universal health care, a right that should be available to all citizens. Yet there are those in our country who are vigorously fighting against him, largely because of party politics.
What they are losing sight of is the greater battle President Obama is attempting to win for all Americans.
When George Washington announced in 1796 that he no longer wished to served as president, the 64-year-old man warned the nation of the dangers it might face without him. One stood our above the rest: “the spirit of the party.”
Referring to that divisive force, Washington said, “It serves always to distract the public councils and enfeeble the public administration. It agitates the community with ill-founded jealousies and false alarms, kindles the animosity of one part against the other, foments occasionally riot and insurrection. It opens the door to foreign influence and corruption ...”
If Americans today followed Washington's goal to remain above the insidious spirit of party, our nation would remain united and strong. Health care for all is a very difficult problem to solve. Our nation should resolve to let party politics go and find a mutual solution to a very serious problem.
