Make your voices heard on proposed reforms
Aug. 17, 2009 12:14 am
I saw in the news recently where Nancy Pelosi and Steny Hoyer issued a statement that they felt the town hall meeting protests were “un-American.” What hypocrisy.
The actions of these two along with Harry Reid and the Democratic majority is what is “un-American.” We have seen the stimulus bill and cap and trade bill shoved through the House with little if any time to read the bills, let alone debate. Now we have the same rushed agenda being applied to health reform. Never mind what is in the bill or how we will pay for it.
I think what we are seeing in these town hall meetings is frustration and outrage over how this Congress and administration is approaching these issues.
Cap and trade will be coming up in the Senate soon and immigration will be a volatile issue as well. It is time for the silent majority to get involved on these issues.
Demand that our congressmen read and know what is in a bill before they vote on it. In regard to health reform, they should know we expect them to be willing to be covered by the same plan they think is good enough for us.
I encourage those who attend town hall meetings to voice your objections and ideas in a respectful manner.
