Embrace Obama’s health reform at your peril
The Gazette Opinion Staff

President Obama is frustrated that his government-run health care “change” isn't embraced by us productive people, and all the media can focus on is that “reactionaries” are spreading false ideas about it. True or not, it's irrelevant and a red herring.
Let's focus on a few main points that are being glossed over.
1) Cost containment is one of the main justifications for the ObamaCommuCare system. However, since the beginning of the modern state, no government anywhere has been able to contain costs on anything. There's no motivation to control costs. Taxes provide unlimited funds. There's no profit and loss element; 535 politicians benefit personally from dishing out special favors, acting in their own best interests. In a private business, managers have a stake in a cost-effective structure.
2) Services that become “free” will be in much higher demand, causing shortages and an unavoidable rationing of health care. The most dependent and irresponsible people who don't need the health care will squeeze out those who are prudent and do need it.
3) Many people resisting this idea are doing so because they don't want the government owning their health care system, aka Post Office, Part II.
Any time government wants to “counsel” anyone, it suggests authority and manipulation, with the goal being able to control the outcome. Here, it's life or death, care or no care. Embrace ObamaCommuCare at your peril.
