Limitations didn’t hurt river celebration

A big thank you to the Cedar River Boat Club, the ski team and all the participants in the Venetian Nights light parade for bringing the river alive. The boat club's fireworks were outstanding, as is their tradition.
The crowd was proof how people enjoy their fireworks. We believe people acted responsibly without weeks of planning and blocking off roads and areas for viewing them.
True, as the city is saying, there are still areas for pedestrian traffic that are hazardous and have never been cleaned up since the flood. Sidewalks are not maintained.
Despite all that, it was good to see people enjoying the river on a beautiful evening.
