Attacking Obama isn’t helping the people
The Gazette Opinion Staff

I am 87 years old and would be the first to admit that a lot of things have changed in those years. But I can't for the life of me understand the objection to our president speaking to the young people of our country about the value of education and encouraging them to study and persist.
Particularly when the first President Bush and President Reagan did it, and I don't remember any opposition. Unless this is the same opposition we have seen to getting a good health care bill passed. It's time we all start to consider what is best for our people and stop this “attack whatever President Obama is for” regardless of the value of the program.
President Obama is a good example of someone who did persist in getting an education in difficult circumstances, so who better to speak to our young people today.
