Riverfront Improvement Commission to become River Recreation Commission

The City Council is expected this evening to replace its existing Riverfront Improvement Commission with a new River Recreation Commission.
The existing commission long has focused on the Ellis Boat Harbor, and many of the commission members own or have owned boat houses in the harbor.
The new, seven-member River Recreation Commission will consist of four at-large members and one member from each of three constituencies: the Five Seasons Ski Team, the Cedar Boat Club and the Ellis Harbor Neighborhood Association.
The commission will be appointed by the mayor with the approval of the City Council.
