The United Methodist Nomads (Nomads on Mission Active in Divine Service) recently completed 19 of 22 weeks working on homes flooded during June 2008. We have worked with the Iowa disaster office in the First United Methodist Church of Marion, under the Rev Melissa Bracht-Wagner, volunteer coordinator for flood recovery. As of Aug. 27, 129 Nomads have donated more than 5,800 hours of volunteer service. We feel humble and blessed to be able to volunteer God-given talents and hands to be of help to the people of Cedar Rapids.
We wish to thank Living Water United Methodist Church in Marion for providing six parking spaces for our motor homes and trailers with water and electric.
We had the pleasure of shopping and eating in many local businesses, including The Bohemian Cafe in Czech Village. Thank you for the opportunity to work with your friends and neighbors in Cedar Rapids.
