Fix programs that already don’t work
The Gazette Opinion Staff

I would like to review this and see if I have it right:
1) Medicare works so well, that most seniors that I know have a supplemental insurance policy because the federal government does not pay the full cost of their health care.
2) Medicaid is broke because the federal government does not have enough money to fund it.
3) Social Security will be bankrupt in a few years because our politicians have taken the extra money paid by us for their future Social Security and have instead spent it on various spending programs.
4) With a record like that, it only makes perfect sense that the federal government would now want to start another entitlement program to control the health care for all of the rest of us. I have complete confidence in them.
Yeah, right.
Hey, Sens. Tom Harkin and Chuck Grassley, and Rep. Dave Loebsack: Fix Medicare, Medicaid, and Social Security before you start another program that you obviously can't manage.
