Three Iowa State football players have been suspended after being accused of marijuana possession.
Iowa State police spokesman Rob Bowers says starting cornerback Kennard Banks, defensive end Cleylon Lang and linebacker Kevin Hamlin turned themselves in early Tuesday on warrants issued by the Central Iowa Drug Task Force.
The Story County Sheriff's Dept. says Laing and Hamlin have been charged with possession of a controlled substance. The charge against Banks was not listed. Laing's bond was set at $2,500, and Hamlin's was set at $1,000.
Central Iowa Drug Task Force officials say they received information Sept. 9 about possible drug activity at Frederickson Court in Ames and executed a search warrant two days later. They claim small amount of marijuana was found in an apartment. The players list the Frederickson Court apartment complex as their residence.
